I 100% applaud the theory behind Darkfall. The freedom of Ultima Online, Asheron's Call and Shadowbane brought a lot of enjoyment and I have fond memories from those endeavors.
However, after playing MMOs for almost 12 years now, I know that it takes a lot more than a good theory to make a good game (see Age of Conan). Unfortunately I predict that Darkfall will become a cheat ridden, bug infested ghost town in short order. Because of this, those PRX that want to play will play as members of the Covenant of Swords and PRX will remain in Warhammer.
I hope to be wrong about Darkfall and if I am, we will play the game.
Since moving to Badlands (#1 populated Core server) the RVR has been massive and a lot of fun. However, on 10 (patch after patch we tried) different occasions we battled our way to a Fortress only to have the server crash 8 times and have Order stop us on the 9th.
On our 10th attempt, we sacked the Reikwald and downed the lord. However, after employing the same strategy in Kadrin Valley, Order decided to defend by not defending (learned from their Averheim counterparts no doubt) and since Mythic continues to let their code do the fighting for Order, we were unable to head to Altdorf.
Frustratingly, while we continue to pour on the war to our enemies, Mythic denies us our victories.
The ORVR action has been very heavy and bloody lately on Averheim. We surpassed 52 million Realm Points; best on our server. The stalemate ended quickly however; we were forced to transfer and so we loaded the Higgins boats and shipped off to BADLANDS. Within hours of the transfer our alliance, Retribution, got to the Fortress.
Tonight, with Daylight's Savings in full effect, we sacked Stonewatch and setup to siege Reikwald. With many brave Order defending, this battle was going to be an epic culmination of 5+ hours of PvE (Order didn't fight us during the campaign, preferring to have their high levels like TKT in Bastion Stair). The server crashed and reset and bugged out all of the Empire vs Chaos zones.
As of 12 noon EST on Sunday, October 12, PRX and our alliance, Retribution (Cadre Quietus, Xen on Onslaught, Dusk Till Dawn, Isolated, Sinners and Misery) has controlled Altdorf. This is the first time it has happened (legit) across all servers.
Warhammer Preview Weekend: Castle Sieged and Taken
We had a lot of fun during this preview weekend on Barak Varr. We took a castle within 1 day of server up and had fun RVRing constantly. The great thing about Warhammer is that you can RVR from the moment you create your character.
The inevitable train is coming into the station; we will be fighting for Destruction in Warhammer come September. Be sure to pre-order NOW to get your copy and the headstart.
Our team will be on vacation from Conan during the month of August. All Recruiting is on hold until we return. As much as we hoped the game would be a permanent home for years to come, boredom has set in with this MMO faster than I have ever seen in previous games; not only from our team but from the community as a whole. At the end of the day it's a game and if players don't enjoy it, they don't play it.
Upon hearing this, Inner City Basketball Kids attempted to kick us while we were down. The result speaks for itself. Ever hear "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie?" This was our last hurrah for August and feel no obligation to defend our BK any longer. We will earn a new one should the time come.
Adrenaline challenged Sinister's city to a siege today and we assisted Adrenaline alongside LoTD and The Box. We breached their walls and took down their Keep. Unfortunately, once the Keep went down it ended the match 30 minutes early and Sinister maintained control of the wreckage. Sin put up a solid defense but should have lost their city.
